Eco Council Criw Eco

2025 Eco Challenge - Global Ocean Trawler Challenge.

Ysgol Y Foryd are linking up with the British Ironwork Centre to be part of the Global Ocean Trawler Challenge.

The challenge will be to fill an ocean trawler net with crisp packets. We will be learning all about the benefits of recycling instead of sending to landfill, we will be learning all about recycling and what happens to our recyclable objects and we will be looking at how we can care for our world.

The Eco Council will work alongside the school council to promote this challenge and encourage the children to bring their empty crisp packets from home, we will collect empty crisp packets from children and staff's lunch boxes and we will be sharing the message with our local residents, who will be able to drop their empty crisp packets here at Y Foryd.

By taking part in the Glocal Ocean Trawler Challenge we will hoepfully be able to host Coral the Fish here at Y Foryd.

Take a look at the British Ironwork Centre Website  to see all the projects and why not think about a day out - it's amazing!!!!

Litter Picking

The children in Dosbarth Gele have been litter picking

It is very important to look after the local environment

They went for a walk down a local path and found lots of dropped litter

They did a splendid job of picking it all up

Luckily, they bumped into some other very hard workers...

...who kindly took the litter away in their van

Here is our team of super litter pickers!

Visit From Darren Millar AM

Darren Millar AM heard about our new garden area
He met Mrs Stanco who told him all about what we have been doing
He was super impressed with what he saw

Autumn Gardening

Mrs Stanco was on hand again to help with some gardening

After returning for the new school year our garden area was in need of some TLC

We planted seeds and picked some juicy tomatoes

The seeds were planted in near little rows
We are really lucky to have Mrs Stanco and her knowledge

Ysgol Y Foryd Secure ‘Keep Wales Tidy’ Grant

Our school has recently secured a grant to improve our outdoor area

wyl Roche from ‘Keep Wales Tidy’ has made numerous raised borders

Our children worked hard to plant seeds

CIt was great fun to be helping to make our new garden area look amazing

Mrs Stanco gave up her time to help and to share her eco expertise

We had trees to plant so we had to dig big holes

Tyres were used to protect our new trees

Teamwork was very important

We had to make sure the holes were big enough

The lovely sunshine made the day even better
We are all very proud of how our new garden is looking
